Biodiversity Program Leader
- Full Time (5 days a week)
- Band 8 Level A: $89,075.59 + 12% Super
- 12 months contract (1 year) from commencement date. A further 12-month extension may be possible subject to satisfactory performance and organisational budget.
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Biodiversity Program Leader to join our Bellarine Peninsula-based team. This is a hands-on leadership role, guiding a field team and helping deliver on-ground works and projects that enhance local ecosystems. This role will report directly to the Executive Officer, work closely with the Engagement Program Leader and will contribute to leadership and strategic direction to the Biodiversity Program. This exciting role requires experience in supportive leadership, team motivation, conservation/ecology/bush restoration and project delivery.
The Biodiversity Program Leader will help deliver on-ground works as well as contribute to innovative, strategic and conservation focused projects and coordinate our diverse bush restoration works across the Bellarine Peninsula.
The role is ideal for somebody that is excited to:
- Provide leadership and strategic oversight to the operations of the Biodiversity Program including people and contract management.
- Lead and supervise fee-for-service contracts, grants and partnerships, making sure work is on time and within budget.
- Cultivate positive relationships with project partners, stakeholders and contractors.
- Build the capacity of the Biodiversity Team through delegation of projects and tasks, setting priorities and goals, managing training and equipment needs.
- Help deliver on-ground works including chemical application (QuickSpray and backpack spraying), cutting and painting and revegetation.
- Manage high-level biodiversity projects including management plans, strategies and site assessments.
- Oversee spatial mapping and stakeholder reporting.
- Undertake day to day supervision of the staff within the Biodiversity Team, ensuring best practice standards and principles are adhered to.
